誕生日を包む

つつみ屋工房に寄せられるラッピングのご依頼の中で、
いちばん多いのは「誕生日プレゼント」です。

一年に一度の特別な日。
相手の笑顔を思い浮かべながら選ばれた贈りものを、
最後にそっと包むその瞬間には、
“おめでとう”という言葉以上の気持ちが宿っています。

包むという行為は、贈りものを「整える」だけでなく、
贈る人の心を「ととのえる」時間でもあります。
忙しい日常の中で、相手を想い、手を動かし、
「これで喜んでくれるかな」と微笑むその姿こそ、
贈りもの文化の原点だと感じます。

今回の包みには、淡いベージュの紙を使いました。
どんな色とも調和し、主張しすぎない優しさを持つ色。
その上に、光沢のあるリボンをゆるやかに結びました。
手のひらに残る感触まで、美しく記憶に残るように。

リボンを結びながら思うのは、
贈りものとは「あなたを大切に思っています」という
静かなメッセージなのだということ。
それは言葉よりも、包む手の温度で伝わります。

つつみ屋工房は、
そんな“気持ちを包む時間”を大切にしています。
ただ美しく見せるためではなく、
贈りものが、心をつなぐきっかけになるように。

今日もまた、どこかで誰かの誕生日を包む一枚の紙に、
やさしい想いをのせて。

🎂Wrapping for a Birthday – The Shape of “Congratulations”

Among the wrapping requests we receive at Tsutsumiya Atelier,
birthday gifts are the most common.

It’s that one special day of the year—
when someone imagines a loved one’s smile
and chooses something just for them.
The moment that gift is wrapped,
it carries a feeling far deeper than words like “happy birthday.”

Wrapping is not only about making a gift look neat;
it is also a quiet ritual that calms and centers the giver’s heart.
In the midst of busy days, we pause to think of someone dear,
move our hands with care, and smile softly,
hoping that the gift will bring joy.

For this wrapping, I chose a soft beige paper—
a color that harmonizes gently with any palette,
and never insists on being the center of attention.
A satin ribbon was tied loosely,
so that even the touch of it leaves a lingering warmth.

As I tie each bow, I am reminded:
a gift is a tender message that says,
“I care about you.”
And that sentiment travels not through words,
but through the warmth of one’s hands.

At Tsutsumiya Atelier,
we treasure this moment of wrapping feelings.
Not simply to make things beautiful,
but to create connections through gifts—
to let kindness take shape in paper and ribbon.

Today again, somewhere,
a single sheet of paper carries a quiet “congratulations.”
